What does consent at 10 years mean?

-to agree

-want something

-To know what you want

These are some of the children’s answers. Then they worked in groups to find answers on the topic below.

When you like a boy or a girl, how do you show this? Find five ways that seem appropriate.

I’m getting closer and closer to him.

I’m interested in his hobbies.

I play games with him.

Then I try to tell him.

When you like someone, you treat them badly.

You buy her something nice.

You don’t leave her alone.

You treat her nice.

You take her to a restaurant.

You tell her you like her.

You feel weird.

Your knees shake.

You get butterflies in your stomach.

You don’t know what to do.

You give him a note.

You try to hide it from him.

You do abnormal things.

We dress up.

We spy on him.

We try to get his attention.

We push him to play.

We befriend his friends.

My favorite:

If I liked a girl I’d spend more time with her and try to find interesting topics, then I’d tell her how I felt straight to her face and if she didn’t like me, I’d still hang out with her as a friend. I’d also take into account (“I’d try my best to keep” has been deleted and replaced with “I’d keep”) her opinion.

I’m starting to shake.

I start talking to myself.

I start talking to her more.

I invite her to go somewhere.

I kiss her on the cheek (spelled “on the lips” and erased) but ask her first, otherwise she slaps me.

That’s because we’ve discussed before that no one is allowed to do anything to us that we don’t want or touch us in a way that is uncomfortable. At any time it’s ok to say NO.

How can you express your affection at this age?

You can hold hands (if you both agree)

You can hold each other by the shoulders (same rule as above)

If yesterday we held hands and today I don’t want to, it’s okay to change my mind.

-Can I kiss you on the cheek? No, I prefer to shake hands.

The discussion ended with the remark:

-Then the prince who kissed Snow White in her sleep did not do the right thing by not asking her first.

I was extraordinarily pleased with the girl’s conclusion, nor could I have put a better point on the discussion.
